Place to Stay at the Grand Canyon

There are numerous Grand Canyon hotels located in or nearby the National Park. Before you decide where you will stay, you will need to determine which rim you will be visiting. While there are plenty of hotels & lodging to choose from near the South Rim, there are fewer options available near the North Rim due to its remote location.

Many of these hotels near the Grand Canyon are just a few minutes away, allowing you to unwind after a full day of sightseeing, hiking and adventure tours. The only disadvantage is that there is not much to do after dark.

You can either dedicate your entire trip to the natural wonder by staying in close proximity to it or choose to stay at a nearby town, like Las Vegas, where the action never ends. There are also unique lodging options to consider like gazing up at the stars through the roof of a tipi. Here are some of the best Grand Canyon hotels.

Lodging Inside the Park

If you are planning to stay inside of the park, then there are plenty of Grand Canyon hotels to choose from. However, the majority are located in the South Rim. The only lodge in the North Rim is the Grand Canyon Lodge, which is open between May 15 and October 15.

Wondering where to stay in Grand Canyon National Park? Below are some of the top lodging options.

Yavapai Lodge

Located within Grand Canyon National Park, this hotel is just a short walk or bus ride away from the South Rim. It is also located near the bank, market and post office. Guests can enjoy a restaurant, tavern and coffee shop offering deliciously, comforting plates and drinks.

Phantom Ranch

This lodging option makes for an eccentric stay. The Phantom ranch can only be reached by hiking, taking a mule ride or rafting down the Colorado River. It is located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon below the North Rim.

Maswik Lodge

Located in the Ponderosa Pine Forest, this lodge is a short walk or bus ride from the canyon’s edge. The complex contains 280 rooms, a gift shop, food court and pizza pub.

Kachina Lodge

This contemporary lodge is one of the best places to stay in the Grand Canyon as it sits directly on the rim in the center of the historic district. The canyon-side rooms have spectacular views of the canyon and the complex is walking distance to all the wonderful restaurants, boats and the Bright Angel Trailhead.

Other great options include El Tovar Hotel, Bright Angel Lodge & Cabins and Thunderbird Lodge Grand Canyon. Reservations for the South Rim are handled by Delaware North and Xanterra Parks & Resorts. If you plan to stay in the North Rim, then you can reserve your stay with Forever Resorts. Keep in mind that lodging is booked well in advance. Therefore, it is best to make reservations as soon as possible.

Where to Stay Near the North Rim

There aren’t too many North Rim Grand Canyon hotels due to its less developed nature. While this side is not as popular as the South Rim, it does provide a more authentic canyon experience. There are many lodging options available in nearby towns on the Kaibab Plateau like Lees Ferry, Page, AZ and Kanab, UT. If you choose to stay in the Page area, you can easily find a high-quality, affordable hotel.

The Courtyard Page is a beautiful Southwestern style hotel overlooking the spectacular Glen Canyon and pristine Lake Powell. There is also the upscale Lake Powell Resort offering a fine dining restaurant, lounge and fitness center.
